Experience in the field
I spent 4 years in the real estate/mortgage servicing industry. In January 2021, I started with Tensentric and transitioned over to medical engineering & manufacturing – a much-welcomed change.
What do you like about Tensentric?
I’m not micro-managed with my tasks; my boss and the rest of Tensentric upper-management are interested in my input and are open to changes I would like to implement; they give me the ability to think outside of the box whenever I feel necessary.
If you couldn’t be an accountant, what would you be? Why?
Probably an auto-broker. I love cars and am constantly looking at them on Craigslist.
What unique set of skills do you bring to Tensentric?
I’m really good at creating Excel trackers and templates. I’ve created several new processes that are able to integrate and “talk” to one another – which saves a ton of time on “investigative work”.
What hobbies or non-work activities are you most passionate about?
I absolutely love racing on Grand Theft Auto. I’m also passionate about baking, eating, and playing with my dogs.
Where are you from and how did you end up in Colorado?
I’m from an area known as “the Mississippi Delta.” I grew up on a backroad between two small towns that are 20 miles apart, Belzoni and Hollandale, MS (both with a population under 2,200). I had 9 people in my class, including my twin and I – we were 2/9 of the grade. My junior year of high school, I got accepted to the Mississippi school for math & science in a different part of the state. After a full school year of being exposed to people that aren’t “delta,” I couldn’t bring myself to spend another summer back home. So, I found a summer camp job in Buena Vista, CO the summer going into my senior year. And I just kept coming back and eventually moved to Denver in July 2017.
What do you like about working at a company that designs medical products?
Pinch me, I’m dreaming. I find myself in awe of what our company does… and the good that we bring to the world. I feel very fortunate to be doing something so meaningful with my accounting degree (even if I’m not working on the projects directly, I’m still a part of the mission of Tensentric).
If you could join one rock band, which one would you join and why?
Sister Hazel – because I think the early 2000’s “angsty-sensitive” rock is overly dramatic and it’s fun to make fun of lip-syncing (but I secretly really enjoy the music at the same time)
If you could go back in time, where and what time would you travel to and why?
I think I’d go back to the 90s as an adult. The music was better, TV shows were more wholesome, people looked like people (not Instagram models), clothing options were fun & corky… Blockbuster was a thing.
